Married At First Sight’s controversial relationship expert Mel Schilling has revealed her tips for finding love and going on a reality show does not make the cut.
Schilling believes the drama-filled, couple-swapping, kiss-and-run cheat-fest that is Married this season is a reflection of dating in the real world.
“This is a realistic representation of what the dating world looks like out there,” Schilling said.

“It is hard, there is a lot of bad behaviour out there in the real world.
“Because of the digital dating scene people look at a date as something very disposable and there is that real sense of, ‘I have got 10 other options on the table at the moment so I don’t need to give you too much time, and if I don’t like what I see or feel I am just going to swipe left and move on’.
“Whether or not that is what is happening within our couples (on MAFS), that is definitely what I am seeing in the real world.”
Schilling said getting off “hook-up” dating apps was the first step in finding love.
“I don’t believe long-term relationships are out of fashion,” she said.
“If they are serious about having a serious relationship then they need to get off those instant gratification apps and look at something like e-Harmony (where she met her husband) or similar which are geared towards matching values, beliefs and personality styles.
“They take longer to register and they have to pay a fee, so there is a lot more skin in the game (and) you are more likely to find people there who are also committed to having a relationship, not just getting laid.”
