North Melbourne great Wayne Carey and his partner, Jessica Paulke, had two reasons to celebrate last night.
The first was their son, Carter, turning six months old on Friday.
“He is going really well, we are very happy,” he said.
The second was the 150th anniversary of the Kangaroos, the club where he carved his name into AFL history as one of the superstars of the game.
Carey said he was delighted to be part of the milestone celebration.
“What is great is you look around and see the best of what North Melbourne is all about and what made this club a great club. It is great to be part of such an important night and we are here to celebrate it and it is very nice,” he said.
“It is the first night we have been out together without him (Carter).
“Jess is checking her phone constantly and feels a little strange without him, but I am doing OK. It is good to have her with me tonight.”
The North Melbourne 150th dinner was held at the Melbourne Convention Centre with guests including Malcolm Blight, Ron Barassi, Keith Greig, Bob Ansett, Ross Glendinning, Glenn Archer, Anthony Stevens, Corey McKernan and Denis Pagan.
