HALIFAX star Rebecca Gibney says she wishes she had not been as hung up on issues such as her weight as a younger actor and enjoyed her success more.
The Gold Logie winner, who is one of Australia’s most loved actors, said age had brought her perspective.
“I wish I knew then what I know now, because I would not have stressed about really unimportant things like ‘am I too fat’, or ‘am I this, or am I that’,” she said.
“I wish I was more worried about the important stuff.
“I am very happy with where I am at now.”
Gibney, who starts filming the Halifax: Retribution miniseries in Melbourne this week, said she was looking forward to returning to the character of Jane Halifax, which she first played 25 years ago.
“I feel a bit older, a bit wiser and am hopefully a better actor, so I think I am going to bring a new perspective to an old character,” Gibney said.
“I do love her (the Halifax character), so I am really excited about where it is going.”
The Halifax telemovies ran on Nine between 1994 to 2002.
The miniseries will see her reunited with Jessica Marais who is returning to the screen following an extended break to address personal issues. Marais played Gibney’s daughter in Packed To The Rafters. The show also stars Anthony LaPaglia, Jacqueline McKenzie and Mavournee Hazel.
