The AFL Grand Final pre-match entertainment is shaping up to be a celebration of homegrown talent.
As footy’s ultimate day approaches word is that the AFL is leaning towards a line up featuring Australian performers rather than jetting in an international headline act.
Just who the major act will be is still a mystery, although they are expected to be sharing the billing with several other performers - a cluster of stars if you will.
ARIA winner Dean Lewis, who enjoyed huge success with his hits Waves and Be Alright, is tipped to be among the line-up at the MCG on game day.
Lewis tweeted on Friday that “due to a scheduling conflict” his shows in Toronto on September 26 and Boston on September 28 have been moved to October 1 and 5 respectively.
The loosening up of his schedule would fit with him being part of the Grand Final pre-match entertainment on September 28.
Another interesting name rumoured to be part of the Grand Final entertainment is Tones and I. Tones and I, aka Toni Watson, a one-time busker, is best known for her international chart-topper, Dance Monkey.
Mike Brady is tipped to return to the MCG to mark the 40th anniversary of his footy classic Up There Cazaly and John Williamson is also expected to be among the performers.
Conrad Sewell has been mentioned in dispatches as performing the national anthem.
The AFL is yet to confirm any performers.
Meanwhile insiders tip the Victoria Racing Club has backed a winner in Taylor Swift. The pop superstar is the hot favourite to perform at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.
