Leading stylist Lana Wilkinson said stylists working with some of the biggest names in entertainment were watching on social media.
“They (the stylists) all look at Instagram, just like us,” Wilkinson said.
“I think sometimes we think, ‘Oh we are Australia, we are small’, but because of the impact of Australian designers Toni Maticevski, Dion Lee, Rebecca Vallance overseas we have a lot of people looking at what we are doing.
“Last year Jessie Murphy was pregnant and wore a custom Oglia-Loro gown. The next day Sam Oglialoro was contacted by Bella Hadid’s team. That has happened with Sonia Cappellazzo. After Belinda Sloane wore her coral dress (last year), Sonia had Gigi Hadid’s and Sarah Jessica Parker’s team reach out.
“It is serious business and the opportunities are huge.”
Wilkinson is working with Murphy, Brit Davis, Jordan Ablett and Ruby Keddie this year.
