Former Collingwood and Carlton star Daisy Thomas is loving his life-after-footy radio career, with the premiership player set to join Billy Brownless for his latest gig.

“Slightly cavalier” and “a little bit loose”, former Collingwood and Carlton star Daisy Thomas is flying in his life-after-footy radio career.

A natural radio performer, Thomas has shown his adaptability and versatility at Triple M, particularly in the past year, where he has been part of the station’s footy coverage, co-hosted the breakfast shift and is now stepping into Drive.

Thomas will join Billy Brownless on The Rush Hour from Tuesday (January 28) until the start of the AFL season, filling in for regular Rush Hour co-host James Brayshaw who is taking a break after covering cricket over summer.

Thomas is no stranger to the Drive audience having covered for Brayshaw last year.

He also impressed during his stint hosting breakfast with Wil Anderson and Rosie Walton.

“I am grateful for all the opportunities Triple M gives me, and all my other employers as well,” Thomas said.

“The fact that I actually got a taste of what that world of brekky radio is was great and it is something I would love to get back into at some point. It is completely different. It was a great experience and another opportunity to learn and evolve.”

Thomas said his approach to radio was to be authentic and honest on air.

“Although it might come across as blase and slightly cavalier at times, I do prepare, I make sure I am in the best presenting state I can be in terms of knowledge across everything, and from there I try to be my authentic self, which is a little bit loose at times,” he said.

“I certainly love the radio world and everything that comes with it.”

Working with Brownless on The Rush Hour was a delight, he said.

“I listen to The Rush Hour and every time he has me in stitches when I am in the car driving home, so to see him two and a half metres away across the desk probably brings you more joy than you would ever know,” he said.

“Billy is The Rush Hour, he is hilarious, he is himself, we all love him. What he is saying is unfiltered; the man is a genius.”
