Former Collingwood star Daisy Thomas has told of his disappointment at missing out on the coveted Triple M breakfast hosting gig in 2025.

Thomas along with Wil Anderson and Rosie Walton, held the fort for Triple M in the Melbourne breakfast shift after Marty Sheargold quit the slot in July to “prioritise self-care and maintain a better work/life balance”. The trio was thrown together with just a week’s notice following Sheargold’s shock decision and gelled impressively on-air.

Only Walton will stay in the shift next year as part of the station’s newly announced breakfast line up of Mick Molloy, Titus O’Reily and Nick Riewoldt.

Thomas generously thanked his co-hosts, the show’s production team and the listeners for the breakfast experience while admitting he would have loved to continue in the high profile slot in 2025.

It was a classy move with his long expression of gratitude posted on social media on Saturday.

“Well that’s that. I couldn’t be prouder of what we built after being thrown together in a week and thrust into the magical world that is breakfast radio,” Thomas said on Instagram.

“Rosie Walton, these words probably won’t do justice to how much I have appreciated everything you’ve done for me at my time at Triple M, but in particular the last 6 months.

“Wil Anderson, thank you for all your help and guidance. It seems too simple to write that a comedian made me laugh uncontrollably, but with the unofficial motto of ‘well, if we are having fun still at the end of this, that’ll tell the story’, I think we did a good job.

“I’m not too proud to say that I was disappointed to not get the nod to continue next year, but that is just all part of it and like you all, I’ll be tuning into Mick In The Mornings from Jan 20.”

Thomas has quickly grown into a versatile and engaging character on Triple M as a co-host and footy commentator.
