The ‘new’ Block is getting close to the start of filming with the 2023 season expected to start shooting within days.

A flurry of activity has been taking place at the show’s location in Charming Street, Hampton East with the five properties purchased by Channel 9 last year having been ‘prepped’ for production over recent weeks.

Despite having hoardings up around the properties it is clear that there are substantial extensions being prepared for the back of each of the five brick homes being transformed for TV.

The homes, numbered 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 in Charming Street, were purchased for a total of $14.3 million by MicJoy Pty Ltd, a company owned by Nine, in separate off-market deals.

The property at 20 Charming Street was the most expensive buy for the production, costing $3.5 million when it was bought last July. The Block is expected to be seen on Nine in early August. No cast members have been revealed at this stage.
