They are no longer lovers and judging by a recent Instagram comment ex-Bachelorette couple Brooke Blurton and Darvid Garayeli are certainly not even friends.
Garayeli did not mince his words when asked by a fan during the week if he and Melbourne-based Blurton were still friends following their shock split in January.
“It’s a strong no from me,” Garayeli replied complete with a little skull emoji to ram home his point. Ouch!
Blurton and Garayeli emerged as a couple in late November from the low rating 2021 season of The Bachelorette. Such was the poor reception of last year’s series Channel 10 has shelved the show for this year.
There is some inkling of hope that the show may be rebooted in 2023 if the right cast can be found.
What did not help The Bachelorette was its low success rate in creating love matches that lasted. The show’s only lasting success has been Georgia Love and Lee Elliott who wed in 2021 after meeting on the show in 2016.
Blurton and Garayeli’s split in January this year was not smooth.
Blurton claimed in an interview that Garayeli blindsided her with a public announcement of their break-up in order to “humiliate” and “silence” her and said the pair had “both lost ourselves along the way” in the relationship.
“I’ll be the first to say it was my choice to end the relationship and I had been thinking about it for a bit towards the end,” Blurton later wrote on an Instagram story.
“My reasons for that are completely valid to me. I had been unhappy for a bit and it wasn’t just solely because of the relationship. We had a very real love in a very unreal situation but we equally had a lot of pressure on us too. Which I felt I carried everyday.”
