RICHMOND champion Dustin Martin has sounded an ominous warning to his teams’ rivals, declaring the Tigers haven’t hit top gear yet.
Despite sitting on top of the ladder, Martin is bullish about his team’s form.
“We still have plenty of room for improvement,” he said.

“Obviously we are in a really good position at the moment, but we just want to keep on improving and we think our best footy is in front of us.
“I think we can still play a lot better and improve a lot more and I think that is really exciting.
“We are coming up to the business end of the season and keep looking to each week as a challenge.”
Brownlow medallist Martin, who takes on the role of an unstoppable gladiator in his new Bonds underwear campaign, acknowledged he too had room to improve.
“I probably have not played up to what I was last year, but the growth of my teammates has been what is more important,” he said.
“I am happy with where my footy is at the moment but I think I have plenty more in me.
“(This year) I have really enjoyed the growth in my teammates around me, the whole team have stepped up. I am just happy to be doing my bit for the team,” he said.
Martin has once again swapped his Richmond jumper for a pair of Bonds Tech Sport “Killer Undies”.
And he has tested his acting chops for the underwear company’s new campaign in which the stripped, ripped and inked Tiger battles advancing warriors in a 3D video game environment.
His famous “Don’t Argue” comes into play in the computer-generated imagery, filmed in a Footscray warehouse.
Just as in the AFL there are some intense battles, but Martin admits he is still not as comfortable in front of the camera as on the footy field.
“Occasionally walking past the mirror at home I maybe do a bit of practice on my poses,” he said.
“I can say the first hour of shooting I am still a bit shy and nervous, but then you relax a bit and I really enjoy it. The boys gave me a bit of s--- from time to time in the locker rooms (about modelling).”
Long interested in fashion, Martin worked with Bonds on the design of the Tech Sport trunks.
“It has been great to work with the team and have a bit of input. I just love being creative with them. Football consumes a lot of my time so it is good to get out and do different things,” he said.
Martin confirmed he was already planning the itinerary for his annual end-of-season overseas trip with great mate Dane Swan.
“I had lunch with him (on Tuesday) so the wheels are in motion,” he said.
“I think we will get Vegas out of the way early and then we will make it up from there. We have definitely got the ball rolling.”
Fashion and travel are not the $8 million marquee player’s only off-field indulgences.
He is also something of a fine foodie, revealing some of Melbourne’s priciest restaurants to be among his go-to dining destinations.
