Comedy and radio star Dave Hughes says he’s “prison fit” despite losing eight kilograms after almost a month in the harsh jungle on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Hughes said it was a life-changing experience going to South Africa, both physically and mentally.
“It was harder than I thought it was going to be but my blood pressure is the best it’s been in 30 years,’’ Hughes said after his exit on Tuesday night.
“I’ve gone from it being high to this, it’s weird. I don’t want to go to prison for that to happen. I am much fitter because I wanted to keep walking so basically I didn’t sit down for a whole month.
“I vow I’m going to spend my days at home being productive. We’re going to sack our cleaners at home, I’m going to vacuum, clean the toilets and be like a grandfather with a broom. I don’t have to look at my phone all day.”
Hughes, a vegan, said he also realised he doesn’t need to have as much salt with his food.
“I’m the lightest I’ve been since I was 21,’’ he said. “So physically it’s the best I’ve been. It was like a dinner party that never ended, minus the alcohol which I don’t drink anyway.
“It was definitely life-changing and I missed (wife) Holly and the kids for sure.”
Hughes said he’s bought a podcast van from Collingwood star Mason Cox which he intends to start using upon his return.
He’s also joining Taskmaster and says he has a few other TV projects to announce this year.
