Married At First Sight’s ‘intimacy week’, which saw female participants parade around in lingerie to excite their partners, is being probed by the TV watchdog.
The episode, which aired on Monday on Channel 9 and showed some female participants in G-strings and almost nude, was branded by many on social media as an OnlyFans trial.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has confirmed to the Herald Sun it had received a number of viewer complaints.
“The ACMA is aware of recent reports around this episode of Married At First Sight — we will be monitoring the number of enquiries from the public and any code complaints received will be fully assessed,’’ a spokesperson said.
The racy scenes, which many on social media described as cringey and anything but sexy, saw brides strip down for a series of sensual tasks under the guidance of expert Alessandra Rampolla.
Also this week one of the grooms, Ryan Donnelly, shocked the other participants when he said his wife Jacqui Burfoot “gives awesome head” before mocking her for having “crazy eyes”, a term a previous groom had used to describe her.
Two of the brides have gone rogue, with Burfoot saying she wasn’t portrayed accurately while Morena Farina said her story had been highly edited given there was no mention that husband Tony Mojanovski had confessed to being married on the outside.
