Zach Merrett and Alexandra Merrett welcome baby Jude

Essendon star Zach Merrett and his wife Alexandra have shared a beautiful picture of their newborn son.

Essendon captain Zach Merrett and wife Alexandra have announced the birth of their baby boy.

The couple were due to welcome their first Baby Bomber late last month.

On Wednesday they posted the first picture of Jude Merrett on social media, accompanied with a white love heart.

In August when they shared the happy news they’d be parents the couple wrote: “Baby Merrett we’ve been waiting for you.”

Alexandra was glowing at the Brownlow Medal in September while cradling her bump on the red carpet in a baby pink Sonia Cappellazzo gown.

“It might be a sign but we don’t know what we’re having,” she said.

She earlier added: “Baby M. My everything and more.”

Alexandra told the Herald Sun it had been a joy preparing for an off-season baby.

“We’ve been pretty relaxed and it’s nice Zach has been able to enjoy it a bit more,’’ she said.
