Mikayla Fantasia, the wife of Carlton forward Orazio Fantasia, has called out an offensive slur on social media by naming and shaming the troll.
Fantasia posted the comment at the weekend which was left on a picture of the couple with their baby daughter Sofia.
“POV: Your husband kicks 2.2 and some guy still comments ‘spastic’ on our family photo. Found his business on Instagram too. Stay classy, mate!”
Fantasia also used the hashtag stop cyber bullying on the TikTok post, in which she revealed the author was a tradie and shared his workplace.
In response to some comments that she needed to “stay humble and not overreact” because her husband is in the spotlight and people can have an opinion, Fantasia wrote: “Of course people are allowed to have opinions. But calling someone a ‘spastic’ isn’t an opinion, it’s just offensive. I didn’t know football discussion needed slurs to make a point.”
Mikayla was supported by another WAG Paris Tier, the partner of GWS player Conor Stone, who has previously spoken out about copping abuse on social media.
The topic has also been brought into the spotlight by Chloe Pink, wife of North Melbourne defender Toby Pink, who hit back at trolls leaving demeaning comments on her wedding pictures.
She revealed the heartbreaking consequences to the Herald Sun: “I read the comments and they were thick and fast coming in, and I just spent I think three days straight crying. Initially Toby was like ‘no way’. He just sat there in silence for a good day and he was like I am so sorry.”
