What Australia’s Got Talent judge Nicole Scherzinger loves about Australia

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger may have recently celebrated a milestone birthday but says age doesn’t matter, as the Australia’s Got Talent judge looks forward to her best years yet.

Nicole Scherzinger won’t shy away from discussing age like most glamorous superstars.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer in fact believes her 40s will be her best years yet.

“Mention the age, f--- it. I’ve never lied about my age,’’ said Scherzinger, 40.

“I find as I get older, I still feel just as young. I get a little bit more balanced and start to see what’s more important and what to focus on, especially as a woman.”

Scherzinger, set to appear on Seven’s reboot of Australia’s Got Talent, feels life is just getting started.

“Someone read my palm in the jungle in Mexico and was like your 40s are going to be your best years yet,” she said.

“So I feel like my 40s are going to be like my 20s and just coming into my own still as a woman and as an artist. (In terms of) what I want to do and what I want to give back, I feel like I’m just beginning.”

Scherzinger, a former judge on the US and UK versions of The X Factor and recently on The Masked Singer, has been in Australia filming AGT alongside fellow judges Manu Feildel, Shane Jacobson and Lucy Durack.

“I love them,’’ she said. “I didn’t know them two weeks ago but now I love them. They’re like family and I’d fight anybody who says a bad word against them.”

Scherzinger, former partner of F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and most recently in a relationship with tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, said the opportunity to work in Australia was too good to refuse.

A fan of comedian Chris Lilley, she has also warmed to Aussie slang.

“I heard ‘sheila’ and I think ‘mate’ is really sweet. ‘Heaps’ is a big one too,’’ she said.

“I’ve toured here but not spent a ton of time here and I thought I’d love to come back here and this is going to be fun.

“To see the roots and the culture and where people come from originally, it’s really touched me and speaks to my soul.”

AGT will premiere Sunday July 28 at 7pm on Channel 7.
