Former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger says she “feels at home” in Australia.
Scherzinger, a judge on Australia’s Got Talent alongside Manu Feildel, Shane Jacobson and Lucy Durack, told Confidential: “I love Australia. It’s like the best of both worlds. It’s European and it’s also tropical. People speak English as well, even though sometimes you can’t understand them. But I’m obsessed with the Australian accent.”
Scherzinger and her fellow judges wrapped two days of filming in Melbourne late yesterday, after sizing up the local talent.
She said she was “mind blown” with the talent on display.
“This show is pure fun and family entertainment. It’s a variety show and anything goes. I knew I’d feel at home here.”
Scherzinger also flexed her knowledge of local celebrities, declaring her “favourite comedian ever” is Chris Lilley, most famous for his blackface characters.
She said: “I love that he takes risks, and I love that he’s just bonkers.”
Scherzinger is also a judge on the British version of The X Factor.
“On the X Factor, they’re fighting to win a recording deal. On AGT, it’s $100,000, which can change people’s lives.”
She added: “It’s really wonderful to see everyday people come on a stage and show their talent.
“The show reminds everyone they too can follow their dreams and honour their gifts, even if they’ve kept them hidden.
