The Farnham family has come together to celebrate a joyous occasion.
Rob Farnham, the eldest son of music superstar John and his wife Jillian, married his “best friend” and long-time partner Melissa Kelly on Saturday.
“On Saturday I married my best friend and dream girl Mel Kel,’’ Farnham posted to social media.
“It was such a beautiful day and I am so happy and full of love. I appreciate everyone who made the trip to the event. Mel and I can’t wait to spend a lifetime with you.”
Kelly posted a look at a beautiful period home where it appears the nuptials took place.
“We did a thing,’’ she wrote on a picture uploaded to her Instagram story.
Farnham, who is the lead singer in alternative rock band Rival Fire, proposed to Kelly in November 2022 in Byron Bay.
“My best friend and love of my life said yes to marrying me,’’ he wrote at the time. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.
The Farnhams have endured a tough time after John had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth. Last August John revealed he was cancer free 12 months after having the 12-hour lifesaving surgery.
He was snapped for the first time in over a year enjoying Christmas lunch with wife Jillian, sons Rob and James and friends and family.
During his recovery youngest son James revealed last month that he was battling his own secret health battle, having major surgery after suffering from diverticular disease which caused his bowel to rupture.
On the occasion of his 36th birthday, James opened up via a lengthy Instagram post about surgery that saved his life last year at the same time his dad was recovering from several operations to treat his cancer.
James, who is training to become a helicopter pilot, requested donations to Bowel Cancer Australia and Crohn’s and Colitis Australia.
“Last year, just as Dad was recovering from his cancer surgeries, I also had major surgery to deal with diverticular disease that had caused perforations in my bowel,’’ James said.
“The surgery saved my life but it has left me with a stoma — a surgically created opening in the abdomen that allows me to poo … into a temporary colostomy bag.
“With any luck I will be receiving my reversal surgery in the next couple months.”
