“I hear these things constantly, I’m too skinny, too fat, too tall, too short,” Gale said.

Gale, 22, is fortunate to have a thick skin when it comes to criticism. Gale’s father is from Melbourne and she spent her teen years growing up in her mum’s homeland of Sweden.

“I am confident in my own skin,” she told Confidential at an event for Swarovski she attended with boyfriend of five years, Johannes Jarl, on Friday.

“There are people in the industry who will tell me I’m too skinny or too fat and that is fine, I won’t work with them and I am fine with that. I see a lot of stuff go down and it breaks my heart seeing how badly some girls are affected by these comments.”

She added: “Anything that will get to me is never about looks on the outside. It would be someone saying something hurtful about my personality because I don’t really care too much about what people say about my looks. I think that has a lot to do with how I was brought up, I learnt that from when I was young.”

Gale shared these wise words when asked what advice she’d give to young hopefuls navigating the often brutal modelling industry.

“You will never be perfect to everyone,” she said. “You will always hear
you are too this or too that and the easiest thing will always be to be the best you can be for yourself, not for what anyone else wants. You want to be comfortable with the person you are.”
