AS Miranda Kerr put Gunnedah on the map, model Victoria Lee will do the same for Narrandera after being cast as one of two Australians in the upcoming Victoria’s Secret fashion parade.

It was a long way from the small NSW township with a population of just 3800, when Lee landed herself a coveted spot with the lingerie giant.

Kelly Gale is the only other Australian to make the cut with a changing of the guard seeing the likes of Bridget Malcolm and Shanina Shaik failing to earn their Angel wings.

Also dropped this year were global names Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. But the list of 53 models, announced yesterday, wasn’t without superstar power by way of Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo.

“I didn’t have a strategy other than to be myself which can be difficult when you have giant butterflies in your stomach,” Lee told The Daily Telegraph from New York after being told the news.

“This means so much to me. To think of the amazing lineage of previous Victoria’s Secret models, it’s incredible to be included. But also a testament to what dedication, perseverance and a wonderful support network can lead to.”

Lee, 26, the current face of Seafolly swimwear and represented by Priscilla’s Model Management, has lived in New York for six years while her family still live in Narrandera.

Her father, Chris, is a funeral director and stonemason while her mum, Jacqueline, ran a baby shop in the country town.

“Victoria is just a delightful daughter, she’s worked so hard we couldn’t be more proud,” her mum told The Daily Telegraph. “She was also the dux of our local high school so she is beauty and brains.”
