A who’s who of the footy, media and cricketing world gathered in Perth for the wedding of James Brayshaw and Lisa Christie.
The popular couple was emotional and elated as they wed on Friday at the Shorehouse in Swanbourne, a year after becoming engaged while on holiday in Italy.
Christie looked radiant in white as she emerged in the sunshine at the venue before former cricketer Greg Blewett presented their rings.
Former AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan was the MC and we hear he cheekily roasted Brayshaw, as did former Olympic high jumper Alison Inverarity.
Also in attendance were former footy players Brad Scott, Alastair Clarkson, Sam Newman, Brian Taylor, Luke Darcy, Nathan Brown, Campbell Brown, Don Pyke, Garry Lyon and Brayshaw’s Triple M Rush Hour co-host Billy Brownless.
A posse of former Australian cricketers also gathered, including Greg Blewett, Adam Gilchrist, Darren Lehmann, Tom Moody, Justin Langer, Mark Taylor, Dennis Lillee and Brendon Julian.
Media identities Craig Hutchison and Damian Barrett were also there, as were Brayshaw’s family members including nephew, Melbourne star Angus Brayshaw and his fiancee Danielle Frawley.
“It was a wonderful night, well done to James and Lisa,’’ Hutchison said on his Sounding Board podcast.
“A decent cricket 11 picked out of the wedding it would be fair to say, it was quite a bizarre night in terms of the size of identities there.”
There was a recovery at Rottnest Island on Saturday, with Perth buzzing as Coldplay staged two shows at Optus Stadium on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Brayshaw, the former president of North Melbourne, was also an elite cricketer and represented Western Australia and South Australia.
He and Christie, an interior designer, have been together since 2017 — he has four sons with his ex-wife, Sarah, and Christie, who was previously engaged to Jamie Durie, has two children from a previous relationship.
Meanwhile, there were more footy weddings at the weekend with new Bulldog James Harmes tying the knot with Corey Musser at Port Melbourne Yacht Club.
The former Demon had many of his now former teammates in attendance including captain Max Gawn, Angus Brayshaw, Jake Melksham and Christian Petracca.
Harmes’ new teammate Taylor Duryea also tied the knot with his partner Jade Diaz in Corowa, New South Wales.
The couple have one year-old son Albie. Duryea, a former Hawk, had Jack Gunston as one of his groomsmen in the beautiful celebration.
