Time On is your Monday wrap-up of all the footy gossip from the weekend.
Kane Cornes has ruffled some old feathers with the ‘Duck’ Wayne Carey.
His opinion that Patrick Dangerfield looks “heavy” got under Carey’s skin, with the footy great tweeting on Sunday: “K. Cornes … Danger needs to lose weight … cannot be serious?? Danger is a bull not a sheepdog #whatajoke”.
Cornes didn’t back down and replied, explaining it was more an observation.
“It wasn’t in any way a criticism, just an observation. Some athletes in world sport benefit from becoming leaner as they age, particularly if injuries become a factor.”

Cornes v Carey has some prior form, with the pair, who appear on opposing networks, exchanging barbs in 2018.
Carey hit back at Cornes for suggesting someone had got in his ear to praise then Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker.
“Being a shock jock in this industry, as a former player, has a limited time,” Carey said.
Cornes replied: “Nothing personal against Wayne. He’s got every right to respond like he did. We’re all big boys. We all cop it. We give it out, we cop it back”.
Four years on and the feathers are still flying.
Danger to the Lodge
Speaking of Dangerfield, not sure anyone expected him to be a popular election commentator on Saturday night.
He could well be on his way to a CEO position one day but if all else fails the AFL Players Association president could even take up residence at The Lodge going by his enthusiasm while watching the coverage.
The Geelong superstar offered up some political humour along with some interesting insights with his first tweet – “Scogo” – setting the wheels in motion for an entertaining night on the platform.

He suggested that “Channel 9 need a cough button …” and even ventured into meme territory.
Clearly having some fun, at one point he wrote: “Crazy things happen when you exit your lane….” which was captioned on the infamous video of ScoMo toppling over a schoolboy on the soccer pitch.
His final offering was a more considered opinion. “Like him or loathe this is how to handle political defeat. Unlike Trump. Democracy and calling for unity. #AustraliaVotes.”
Look out Danger, the teals might come knocking.
A little Nic Nat on the way
West Coast star Nic Naitanui and partner Brittany Bown announced they are expecting their first child at the weekend.
The couple received much love from the footy world with pilates instructor Bown, 28, saying she was the “happiest girl in the world”.
Bown rose to prominence on the social scene after widely considered to be the best dressed at last year’s Brownlow in a Jason Grech gown.
Naitanui announced “Lil yakka on the way”.
“I feel very comfortable going into parenthood knowing our child is always going to have someone to play with and make them laugh,’’ Bown said.
Brayshaw wants twilight grand final
James Brayshaw has slammed the AFL’s decision to keep the grand final start time at its traditional 2.30pm start time.
The Channel 7 commentator, who called last year’s grand final in Perth that had a start of 5.15pm local time, said a huge opportunity has been missed.
“I think it’s a mistake,’’ Brayshaw said on Triple M’s Saturday Rub.
“I don’t actually care what the vote was, if you had put that game on twilight at the MCG and shown the Victorian people how amazing that slot is for that game and the entertainment around it, everyone would have gone, ‘you know what, I never realised it would be that good’.
“I think they’ve missed an opportunity to be honest. There’s nothing wrong with where it is, to take it to prime time and take it to twilight would have been something unbelievable.”
