Time On: Brian Taylor in case of mistaken identity at Logies
Brian Taylor probably thought his night could only get better after a waiter spilt champagne all over his jacket at the Logies. He was wrong, but it was all good fun.

Time On is your Monday wrap-up of all the weekend’s footy gossip and banter.
Brian who?
Brian Taylor was feeling good, dressed up and in a nice table position at the Logies until his night turned a bit pear shaped.
The Channel 7 commentator always enjoys the vibe at television’s big event but not everything went to plan on Sunday night.
Firstly, a waiter spilt champagne all over his jacket, and then there was a case of mistaken identity.
But it was all taken in good humour.
He was excitedly approached by long-time Wiggle, Anthony Field, who wanted a picture.
Taylor was chuffed and obliged, with Field saying he was sending it to his mates who love footy.
“I got a photo with Leigh Matthews!” Field exclaimed.
Taylor bristled but took it well and had a chuckle.
“He didn’t know who I was and I didn’t know who he was,’’ he laughed.
Taking a punt
Eddie McGuire’s son, Joe, has been picked up as an NFL punter in the US.
Joe was signed last week by the Ohio State Buckeyes after quietly training for several years.
McGuire was a proud dad as he walked the red carpet at the Logies with wife, Carla.
“Of course I’m proud,” McGuire said.
“The team they hate are the Blues. It’s exciting.”
Joe, 22, has left a commerce course at Melbourne University. His younger brother, Xander, 20, is a sports reporter for Nine News and is still at university full-time doing a politics, philosophy and media course.
There has been talk that Xander, who is following in his father’s newsbreaking steps, could be considered as a replacement for Tom Browne at Channel 7.
“He’s still at uni, breaking stories and doing well,” McGuire said.
McGuire who has twice hosted the Logies solo and once co-hosted, has incredibly never been nominated for a Gold Logie.
He gave praise to Sam Pang for his hosting job.
Powerful friends
Guillaume Brahimi has opened up about his close friendship with outgoing AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan.
Brahimi had McLachlan as one of his groomsmen as his recent lavish wedding in Paris. The chef married chicken heiress Tamie Ingham.
“It was a very special wedding as it should be,” he said.
“Two months and it’s perfect and I’m very happy.
“I met (Gill) at Crown, doing the Million Dollar Lunch, which is a wonderful cause. He’s such a terrific person and I’m very blessed to have him in my life.”
McLachlan has been seen with his arm in a sling, which Brahimi said he believed was a shoulder injury from playing polo.
But the man behind Bistro Guillaume at Crown Melbourne, wasn’t always complimentary of the footy chief.
“He’s not very good in the kitchen,” Brahimi said.
“He’s also too tall to be in there.”
Billy no gladiator
The notion of Billy Brownless joining the reboot of Gladiators has been knocked on the head.
Brownless’ name was floated by his management TLA as a potential to be part of the revived series, which pits celebrities in physical combat situations.
“I played footy and always thought about being a gladiator,” Brownless said on Triple M’s Saturday Rub.
Despite holding out hope — “we’re in discussions” — Time On has since confirmed that there was a rejection, with Brownless considered not agile enough and too old for the show.
His Rush Hour co-host James Brayshaw said he found it amusing that he was even floated in the first place.
