It was an event packed with private jets, celebrity chefs, even a Super Bowl trip – step inside AFL boss Gil McLachlan’s latest trip abroad for a wild bucks trip.

Polo in Argentina, skiing in Whistler, bucks party in the States and a corporate box at the Super Bowl — welcome to Gill McLachlan’s abridged gap year tour.

The AFL boss has been clocking up the frequent flyer miles in the final few months of his tenure in football’s hottest seat.

To be fair a number of these lavish trips were already in the pipeline.

But AFL commission chairman Richard Goyder’s persistent begging for him to stay on wore him down, with Gill delaying his exit by six months.

It’s no secret 2023 was supposed to be Gill’s gap year but because he didn’t want to leave the AFL hanging with so many big issues yet to be resolved, he’d had to take a red pen to his holiday calendar.

Although what he still managed to fit into the schedule is pretty impressive.

In December Gill was indulging in his second love, galloping around the polo fields of Argentina in the company of media mogul James Packer.

A family trip skiing to the Canadian ski hotspot was next on the itinerary in January.

Whistler was clearly the buzz location this year for AFL types with Brownlow Medallist Chris Judd and influencer wife Bec, also mingling with the rich and famous on the slopes.

And on Thursday, Gill packed his suitcase again and headed back to the States, this time for some boys time.

On the agenda was a bucks party that has Hangover-movie vibes about it to celebrate good mate, celebrity chef Guillaume Brahimi’s coming nuptials.

The French culinary genius, who is most well known in Melbourne for his long time partnership at Crown Casino with Bistro Guillaume, is marrying chicken heiress Tamie Ingham.

We hear no expense was spared for the week-long bucks show which started in La La Land and Las Vegas before culminating at the biggest testosterone fest in the world for the Super Bowl in Arizona.

Think private jets and food and wine fit for a celebrity chef – but poor old Gill had to cut his involvement back to 72 hours because of dreaded work commitments.

This meant he was meeting Brahimi and the select group of boys, all captains of industry we are told, in Arizona for the Super Bowl leg of the party where they will have the VIP lanyards for the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Gill is a regular at the gridiron extravaganza but Page 13 is told he’s doing it on his own dime this time as is his right-hand man and heir apparent Andrew Dillon who has taken a few days leave for one last hurrah together.

Even celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay got in on the action for Australia’s most expensive Bucks party.

The foul mouthed UK culinary king joined Gill and Brahimi in Phoenix Arizona to take part in all the Super Bowl hype.

Brahimi posted happy snaps from the stadium, including vision of Rihanna’s epic halftime show on Monday and embracing his good mate Ramsay.

“So nice to catch up with my friend Gordon Ramsay in Phoneix for Super Bowl LVII,” Brahimi wrote.

Ramsay, who also forwarded his warm condolences to the French Bucks was also seen shaking hands on the ground with rapper and Roc Nation founder Jay-Z and culinary queen Martha Stewart.

Last year when promoting his SBS food travel show Guillaume’s Paris, the Crown chef and ambassador said we felt “lucky”.

“Gordon Ramsay is a celebrity. I’m just lucky. I spent my time in the kitchen and I love cooking.”

Another AFL executive, Kylie Rogers, also headed to Phoenix but she was going as a guest of a big-name sponsor which the league is set to announce in the coming weeks.

As usual there was be a contingent of AFL faces heading to the Super Bowl mecca with former Carlton captains Marc Murphy and Judd said to be hooking up for a boys weekend. Touchdown!
