Kimberley Ametoglou, formerly known as St Kilda schoolgirl Kimberley Duthie, has undergone surgery in her battle with cervical cancer.
Ametoglou is releasing a tell-all book about her life which included making headlines in 2010 and 2011 after leaking nude photos of St Kilda players and being caught in a hotel room with player manager Ricky Nixon.
She assured her followers she was recovering well.
“Thank you for all the kind wishes the last few days,’’ she wrote.
“I appreciate each and every one of you! I am recovering very well and being happy + positive.”
Ametoglou, who runs an eyelash salon in Queensland and is a crypto trader, last year revealed she was battling cervical cancer and was undergoing a full hysterectomy after chemotherapy.
The mum of a four year-old son with husband Demirel Ametoglou, says she has been overwhelmed by support for her journey to heal and recover, and to “share my truth”.
“This is one of the most challenging things I have ever done, reminiscing on past traumas and a time in my life that I was at absolute rock bottom,’’ she said.
“I wanted to be able to share what I couldn’t say 10 years ago during many TV interviews.
“NDA contracts have finally expired now it’s 2021 and it’s my chance to finally close a chapter.”
She added: “This will be a factual version of events vs a former fictional soap opera.”
Nixon posted on veiled swipe on social media, captioning a picture with his fiance Melissa Huynh: “Thinking of writing a BOOK on how happy I am with all money going to Kids with Cancer. At least I know what’s WRITE from PONG.”
Nixon started charity Kicking for Cancer in 2019.
He holds a charity football match every year with former and current AFL players to raise money for kids with cancer.
Since revealing she is planning to tell her story, Ametoglou has posted that she was accepting media requests and would consider all bids and offers for rights and interviews ahead of her autobiography release.
In a question and answer on her Instagram, Ametoglou wrote: “Obviously I wish I hadn’t gone through all of the horrible things I have, but I’m also so grateful for what they’ve taught me. It’s taught me strength, courage, determination, passion and hard work.
“It’s taken me 10 years to rebuild a new life and I believe my business and success comes down to the hardships I was put through. Working an 80 hour week every week doesn’t seem so bad when you’ve been to hell and back. So for that, I am thankful and the people I’ve met along the way have shaped me to be who I am today.
“Brave, fearless and a role model to my beautiful son. I’m happy to have braved a storm … so that he can see the rainbow.”
She said her Instagram family had helped her through dark times and that she and her husband would be reuniting after some time apart due to COVID-19 and border restrictions.
“We rekindled last year in June & are happier than ever, a break has made us realise how much we missed & loved each other,’’ she said.
