The behind the scenes inner workings of AFL clubs will feature in a Jerry Maguire inspired documentary titled Show Me The Money.
Filmed during October last year, and centred around the AFL trade period that is often referred to as footy’s ‘meat market’, some of the game’s most prominent player managers take centre stage.
It is produced by Jam TV, the makers of the warts and all series Making Their Mark which aired last year.
That was a huge success for Amazon Prime with Eddie McGuire’s company also behind this docu-series highlighting what really happens behind closed doors.
The new show follows how player trades come together and it’s believed to include top managers and agents Paul Connors, Robbie D’Orazio, Alex McDonald and Colin Young in Perth.
Connors and D’Orazio, from Connors Sports Management, have big name players on their books including Bailey Smith, Christian Petracca, Ollie Wines and Patrick Dangerfield.
Alex McDonald’s Hemisphere look after the likes of Scott Pendlebury, Jeremy Cameron and Jack Steele.
Young was at the centre of drama surrounding Fremantle ruckman Rory Lobb and a potential move back to GWS.
Also dubbed ‘the silly season’ the last trade period wasn’t as prolific as seasons past, but insiders say it’s not short on drama.
Carlton was said to be a big winner after securing Dockers midfield star Adam Cerra, who is managed by D’Orazio.
The Connors team also presided over trade deals involving Patrick Lipinski and Robbie Tarrant.
Jerry Maguire was a hit 1996 movie starring Tom Cruise and his NFL protégé played by Cuba Gooding Jr who uttered the famous line to his agent: “Show Me The Money”.
It will air on Stan prior to the start of the AFL season in March.
