Australia’s women cricketers brought the glamour and the proud smiles when they hit the blue carpet at the Australian Cricket Awards on Monday at Crown.

After an Ashes series whitewash over England was completed at the MCG, the winners swapped their playing whites for black tie finery at the sport’s biggest night.

Alyssa Healy, wearing a stunning sequined gown by Cappellazzo Couture, was accompanied by her father Greg.

“It feels very good to get dolled up, we’ve had a big couple of days,” said Healy whose husband Mitch Starc is playing with the test team in Sri Lanka.

“It’s been good having us both on the TV.”

Annabel Sutherland, who became the first woman to have her name added to the MCG’s Test Century honour board, described the past week as a whirlwind.

“It’s pretty crazy to be honest, reflecting on the whole series and we played some great cricket,” she said, accompanied by brother Tom.

“To have other teammates joining me on the board too is really special and I spent a bit of time in the change room just looking at it.”

Despite the men’s test team being in Sri Lanka there were plenty of cricket stars on show including Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Marsh, Lance Morris, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short.

Maxwell’s wife Vini was a standout in Indian ethnic wear called Lehenga.

“I wore an outfit like this for my wedding too and I thought why not tonight,” she said, showing off the gold beaded two piece outfit.

“It’s very heavy but I’m making it work.”

Maxwell was a fan. “Of course I love it, she looks beautiful,” he said.

“I love getting together and celebrating the many achievements of both the men and women,” he added.

“It’s more special with the women being so dominant and I’m looking forward to reflecting on that.”
