Shane Warne has cancelled his planned 50th birthday bash in Melbourne next month.
The spin king, who hits the milestone tomorrow, will instead celebrate with a smaller gathering at an up-market bar in London after the Fifth Ashes test at The Oval.
It’s expected he’ll extend an invitation to the likes of his good friends Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran, as well as Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue.
Warne was due to mark the occasion with a Melbourne party at The George on Collins in the city on October 13, but his schedule upon return is now too busy.
His son Jackson is in London and the pair will head to Queensland for a poker tournament before returning to Melbourne for a few days.
Warne is committed to coaching the Lord’s-based London team in next year’s Hundred competition.
The father of three told the Herald Sun in July he was still in shock about his age and was “extremely single”.
“I’m old,’’ he said.
“50, I’m like, geez, I can’t believe I’m 50. It only seems like yesterday I was playing cricket for Australia and going to England and the Ashes and World Cups and that was a long time ago now.
“I’ve been retired from international cricket for 12 or 13 years.”
