Runways to rocking chairs: Designer Effie Kats reveals pregnancy

Renowned Melbourne designer Effie Kats, known for dressing celebrities like Bec Judd and Dannii Minogue, is expecting her first child with husband James Cerolini.

Melbourne designer Effie Kats is bringing a new dream to life by starting a family.

After building her fashion empire, the 35 year-old and husband James Cerolini, are expecting their first child in January.

“I’ve dedicated so much of myself to building a career I’m proud of, but starting a family has always been at the heart of what I wanted,’’ Kats said.

“This next chapter feels incredibly meaningful, and I’m so excited for what’s to come.”

Kats, who has been a popular go-to for big names including Bec Judd, Dannii Minogue, Pip Edwards, Lana Wilkinson, Nadia Bartel and Carrie Bickmore, will do a gender reveal soon.

“We’ve lived our lives and we’re settled, it’s the perfect time for this addition to our lives,’’ Kats said.

“I was super nauseous at the start but once I hit 14 weeks it went away and I feel good. We definitely want to take this next step.”

Kats’ eponymous clothing brand was earlier this year picked up by retail giant David Jones.

Her Melbourne office now has 15 employees and her other success, Bayse Brand, has already been sold in David Jones for two years.

“Keeping the (Effie Kats) brand predominantly Australian-made has been such a main focus for us and that’s been the challenging part, but we got there and I’m thrilled,’’ Kats said.
