Richmond premiership captain Trent Cotchin joins Dancing with the Stars

Richmond premiership captain Trent Cotchin has joined Melbourne influencer Mia Fevola in a surprise career move as he steps back from his Channel 7 footy role.

Richmond premiership captain Trent Cotchin is pivoting from footy commentary to the dancefloor.

Cotchin, who was part of Talking Footy last season alongside fellow champion Joel Selwood, has now joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars for 2025.

The footy show, which also featured James Brayshaw and Tim Watson, has been replaced by Seven with other programs headed by Craig Hutchison and Kane Cornes after their moves from Nine.

Cotchin played 306 games for the Tigers and retired at the end of 2023.

The three-time premiership captain and father of three joins another well known Melburnian in

Mia Fevola, the influencer daughter of Runway Room founder Alex and former footballer turned radio host Brendan, both of whom have previously starred on the show.

Melbourne’s new weekend news co-presenter Karina Carvalho is also giving dancing a shot, along with news counterpart Michael Usher.

The rest of the cast includes Gold Logie winning actor Rebecca Gibney, TV comic Shaun Micallef, swimming champion Susie O’Neill, television presenter Osher Günsberg, Olympic boxer Harry Garside, Home and Away actor Kyle Shilling, radio host Brittany Hockley and comedian Felicity Ward.

They were all in Sydney on Monday morning for the announcement with rehearsals having already got underway.

Sonia Kruger and Dr Chris Brown return as hosts with judges Craig Revel Horwood, Sharna Burgess, Helen Richey, and Mark Wilson.
