An Australian band says they copped a parking fine after movie superstar Russell Crowe took parking permits for St Kilda’s Espy Hotel and left town with them.
When the band reached out to Crowe about their misfortune, he responded with a line his most famous film character, Maximus, would be proud of.
The band, Noasis, an Oasis tribute act, performed at the bayside venue after Crowe’s band Indoor Garden Party.
Noasis lead singer Darren Spiby recalled: “We couldn’t get a park at the Espy, so our van was parked on the street.
“The staff said they didn’t have any parking permits because Russell Crowe pissed off with them.”
The band was hit with a $140 parking fine and contacted Crowe with a polite ask: “Any chance you can please send back the permits, and some coin to cover the loss?”
Crowe’s reply: “That’s rock and roll.”
Noasis returns to the Espy on Friday.
