‘No one knows who you are:’ Kyle’s jab at Sammy J as feud boils over

A war of words has erupted between breakfast radio foes Kyle Sandilands and Sammy J with the ABC host taking the matter to the people to help “pay rent” for living in Sandilands’ head.

Radio host Sammy J has added some humour to his escalating war of words with shock jock Kyle Sandilands.

The comedian has started a GoFundMe fundraiser titled “Help Sammy J pay rent for living in Kyle Sandilands’ head”.

It comes as their unlikely feud erupted this week with the under pressure KIIS FM host responding to a dig about ratings by the departing ABC breakfast host.

Sammy J has organised the fundraiser to benefit the charity Big Brothers Big Sisters who provide life-changing mentoring and support for young people.

“Hi everyone, when I retired from Breakfast Radio in 2024 I was rating better than Kyle Sandilands. Sadly for both of us this means he will never beat me and I will forever live in his head as his eternal, uncatachable tormentor,’’ Sammy J wrote on the site.

“Since I had no say in this, I naively assumed it would be a rent-free arrangement — however I have now been asked to provide payment for accommodation.

“I don’t earn 15 million dollars a year like Kyle, so I will need some help to raise these funds.”

Sammy J poked the bear so to speak when he said after the latest radio ratings that he’d “beat Kyle again”.

Sandilands said: “There’s some guy at the ABC in Melbourne who quit, but he was saying some weird shit like: “I beat Kyle Sandilands’ and ‘I’m the first thing he thinks about’.

“I have never even heard of him and he thinks that he is in my mind. What a deluded flog. I don’t know who you are dog ... Bro no one knows who you are.”

Kyle Sandilands has lashed out at Sammy J.

When Sandilands’ co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson suggested the comedian was joking, Sandilands doubled down: “Jackie, he’s from the ABC. They don’t joke.”

On Tuesday morning Sammy J posted to his socials, addressing the matter.

“I’m getting so many calls from the media that I thought it would be best to put this out there — won’t be making further comment,’’ he wrote.

“To describe this as a “feud” is incorrect and offensive to both myself and Mr Sandilands. He and I both agree on facts:

“— I will have better ratings than him for all eternity

“— He can’t stop thinking about me

“— He needs music and ads plus multiple co-presenters to prop him up but I can host a radio show all on my own cos I’m a big boy

“I trust this settles the matter.

“I wish Mr Sandilands well and hope his 4am starts get easier with time.”

Earlier this month Sammy J announced his departure from the program after five years behind the microphone. His replacements will be Sharnelle Vella and Bob Murphy.

In the last radio ratings released on November 14, The Kyle and Jackie O Show dipped from a 5.2 per cent audience share to 5.1 per cent in Melbourne. It is leading in Sydney but has so far failed to make any inroads in the Melbourne market.

Sandilands has also had an ongoing feud with Steve Price who called the shock jock a “grubby buffoon” and Sandilands responded by saying he was a “piece of shit”.
