KIIS FM’s $200m dream team, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie “O” Henderson, have slumped again in the radio ratings.
Latest figures released by GfK on Thursday, showed the Kyle and Jackie O’s nationally syndicated radio show dipped from a 5.2 per cent audience share to 5.1 per cent in Melbourne.
It marks another lacklustre result for the no-holds-barred show, which dominates the airwaves in Sydney.
It is also likely to spark another outburst from Sandilands.
Last month, after another set of average numbers for the show, Sandilands said: “I blame everyone in Melbourne. It is your fault, you are late to the party, you are pearl clutchers, you all love the s--t show that used to be on here that we a---holed.”
That show, co-hosted by Lauren Phillips and Jason Hawkins, which has since moved to Nova, won the ratings race for FM radio in Melbourne, with an 11 per cent audience share.
“At the end of the day he is a ranga from Brisbane,” Sandilands said of Hawkins, who is a supposed mate. “He is not even a Melbourne guy, so who is the joke on? Pests.”
Elsewhere on the radio dial, 3AW continued its reign at the top, but its audience share fell from 22.5 per cent to 20 per cent.
Fox’s Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody jumped up slightly for a 10.2 per cent audience share, up from 10 per cent in the last survey.
3AW’s Jacqui Felgate also enjoyed a bump, with her Drive show marking a 9.2 per cent share, up from 9.1 per cent.
Duncan Campbell, from KIIS-FM’s parent company ARN, said “tall poppy syndrome” had affected Kyle and Jackie O’s Melbourne mission.
“It’s a long game,” he told the Sunday Herald Sun recently.. “We are in the trenches. We have a lot of ground to make up.”
