Multimillionaire businessman Adrian Portelli has made a surprise appearance at The Block — this time rocking up in a new flashy black Bentley.
Portelli flew into Melbourne on Thursday from his Gold Coast home to be part of a top-secret challenge involving prospective buyers of properties on The Block, which is is being filmed on Charming St, Hampton East.
He arrived in his limited edition luxury car, worth than half a million dollars, just over a week after craning his $3m McLaren Senna GTR up to his newly purchased $39m penthouse near Carlton Gardens.
It’s the first time Portelli has visited The Block since he rocked up in a yellow Lamborghini last year and was dubbed a “dummy bidder” when he shot up the price of Oz and Omar’s winning Gisborne house.
He also became known as “Lambo guy” and eventually bought Sharon and Ankur’s house for $4.25m which he gave away through a promotion in his LMCT+ business.
“I got an invite this year, think they know I’ve got the money to buy a house now so no more dummy bidding,” he said.
“Let’s buy a house.”
Portelli said he wanted to shake things up.
The Block turns 20 this year with the new teams battling it out on the site where there were five classic brick homes.
Portelli hit back at critics who labelled the craning of his car as an “obscene” display of wealth.
Portelli, 34, wrote on Instagram: “First my name was trashed publicly suggesting I was a dummy bidder and couldn’t afford The Block house. Even suggesting I was friends with the contestants because of my ethnicity.
“Now these people are crying because I’ve got ‘too much money’. MAKE UP YOUR MIND PEOPLE.”
Portelli now owns more than 20 properties across Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia and is entering developments in NSW.
Also an owner of 40-plus cars, he is enjoying sharing his wealth.
Last week he gave away another million dollars to a lucky member of his LMCT+ tech business.
It’s the seventh house or money giveaway he’s completed through his promotions and giveaway business.
“I enjoy changing someone’s life and I don’t think anyone else has ever done that,’’ he said.
