SEN would be a happy place today after the release of the latest radio ratings.
Gerard Whateley made huge ground in his mornings timeslot, jumping to a 5.3 per cent share, up from 4.3.
The AFL360 co-host’s Whateley program has almost doubled his share in a matter of months, as he was sitting on only 3.0 per cent at the end of April.
It was the first ratings period without Kevin Bartlett after the beloved SEN’s presenter’s resignation last month.
While the popular sentiment was that SEN could cop listener backlash because of the Richmond legend’s departure, the drive timeslot didn’t move from 4.2 per cent.
KB and the Doc have been replaced in the 3pm-6pm slot by Western Bulldogs great Bob Murphy and long-time SEN presenter Andy Maher.
SEN made gains across the board (4.5 per cent, up 0.4 overall), except for evenings, which were down to 0.7 to 1.9 per cent.
The sports station fully capitalised on a sports heavy period, which has included the back end of the AFL season, the Ashes, Cricket World Cup and Wimbledon.
Meanwhile, most breakfast shows suffered a fall, including powerhouses 3AW and Fox FM, who remain well out in front overall.
The Fox crew of Yvie Jones (who has been filling in for Fifi Box), Brendan Fevola and Byron Cooke retained their lead in the FM battle (10 per cent, down from 10.5), while 3AW breakfast kings Ross Stevenson and John Burns dropped from their lofty perch of 19.5 to 18.6 per cent.
Triple M’s Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire, Luke Darcy and Wil Anderson (6.3 percent, down by 0.1) placed sixth out of the FM breakfast shows, behind Fox FM, Gold FM (8.0), KIIS FM (7.2), Nova (8.6) and Smooth (6.9).
The ABC duo of Jacinta Parsons and Sami Shah were down 0.6 to a concerning 8.2 per cent.
Their breakfast show has fallen from 9.7 per cent in June.
Long-time ABC presenter Jon Faine recorded a jump in one of his final ratings period before handing over the reins to Virginia Trioli.
The veteran broadcaster is tied for second with Fox FM on 10.5 per cent in the mornings slot, but still well behind 3AW powerhouse Neil Mitchell on 17.2 per cent, who was down 0.6 per cent.
Gold FM (10.3 per cent, up from 9.1) and Smoothfm (9.9 per cent, up from 8.5) made huge jumps in mornings.
