Macedon residents have a spring in their step with a Hollywood blockbuster film rolling into town.
The action thriller Blacklight, starring Liam Neeson, is setting up for a few days of filming in the area known as ‘The Res’.
Written, directed and produced by Ozark co-creator Mark Williams, the $43 million film stars Neeson playing Travis Block, a “troubled off-the-books fixer for the FBI”.
The Macedon location will represent a trailer park in Maryland.
Blacklight is a huge boost for our film and TV industry, bringing in more than 500 local jobs for cast and crew, and with round the clock security in the area.
Neeson has quarantined in Sydney for two weeks and was arriving in Melbourne at the weekend.
Filming will start at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre this week, with Jeff’s Shed turned into a backlot.
Macedon local Ben King said it was exciting.
“It’s been a hard year for everyone and this is good for the film industry,’’ he said.
“There’s lots of caravans, trailers and boats. About 10 years ago Nicholas Cage was here filming Knowing and they made it look like an American gas station on The Res.”
