Lucy Brownless has paid tribute to her boyfriend Paddy McCartin in an emotional post supporting the former Saint.
McCartin has been delisted by St Kilda in a mutual decision so the 23 year-old can focus on his recovery from repeated concussions.
An emotional Brownless has described the situation as the “hardest” and “most challenging” eight months of their lives.
“Incredible (sic) proud of how you have handled yourself with so much strength, positivity and courage,’’ Brownless wrote underneath a picture of the couple on Instagram.
“The past eight months have undoutably (sic) been the hardest and most challenging time you have ever been through. I’m by your side every step of the way. I love you.”
McCartin revealed on SEN radio he had received some optimistic news from doctors about a playing comeback.
He and Brownless, the daughter of former Cats forward Billy Brownless, celebrated their three year anniversary in June.
At the time he also posted a heartfelt tribute to Brownless, thanking her for being there for him.
“ … don’t know where the times gone, we have had so many great times, and a couple of downs as well, and there’s no doubt the last 3 months have been the hardest,’’ he wrote.

“There’s been days and weeks where I haven’t been able to move, leave the couch or leave my bed, and you’ve put everything in your life on hold to help me through all this and help me find my feet.
“You’ve made me feel happy and smile on days where without you I know I wouldn’t have been able to, I’m very lucky to have you and if it wasn’t for you I don’t know what kind of a way I would in now.”
The couple spent time together in New York this year while Brownless studied a yoga teaching course and McCartin sought specialist advice in the US.
