Lucy Brownless says a life-changing trip the US has inspired her to pursue new career goals.

The model daughter of former footy star Billy Brownless spent six weeks living in New York completing a yoga teaching course, and then was fast-tracked for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit casting in Miami.

She was supported throughout by boyfriend, St Kilda footballer Paddy McCartin, who headed to Chicago to see concussion specialists in a bid to resurrect his career.

“Paddy’s doing well, we were able to get some clarity and invaluable help in the US last month which was great,’’ she said.

“I am so proud of him and how positive he’s remained through all of this.”

After New York, Brownless went to Miami to chase her Sports Illustrated dream, receiving a golden ticket and meeting with editors.

“I absolutely love the way they empower women, no matter what size, colour or race,’’ she said.

“They really do embrace everyone and make every woman feel beautiful. I truly did feel this walking into my interview, as I had a confidence that I hadn’t had before.

“It was an experience that I am eternally grateful for.

“I completed my nutrition course at the start of the year and wanted to build on that. I had always been drawn to yoga and I practice most mornings to help centre and ground my day, having found it has been so positive and beneficial, both physically and mentally.

“New York is my favourite city and I’ve wanted to experience living there for a little while, to really immerse myself in the lifestyle.”

Brownless is now in Europe for a family holiday and visiting relatives in France.
