Kyle Sandilands on to a winner with his latest foray into television

LOUD mouthed breakfast radio host Kyle Sandilands’ latest foray into television airs this week. Here’s everything you need to know about the shock jock’s Judge Judy/Jerry Springer style show.

THERE’S plenty of room for improvement but Kyle Sandilands is most definitely on to a winner with his latest foray into television.

Trial by Kyle is the perfect vehicle for the loud mouthed breakfast radio host, providing a platform to pontificate from above while also showing a warmer, caring side to the loveable FM radio shock jock.

You can’t help but love Sandilands in the Judge Judy style show, where he presides over case after case ranging from entitled social media influencer Skye Wheatley fighting a botched boob job to feuding porn stars and down and out best mates fighting over cash.

“The cases heard on ‘Trial by Kyle’ are real,” a voiceover guy announces in the opening sequences of the show, the words presented on screen as he speaks.

“All participants have signed an agreement for Kyle to act as mediator in their dispute. Kyle’s verdict is final and must be upheld. Kyle Sandilands is a no nonsense straight shooter, uniquely qualified to solve people’s problems. Those who enter his court have lost faith in the justice system and seek an alternative system.”

Nowhere in the show does it explain how Sandilands is “uniquely qualified to solve people’s problems”. But that doesn’t seem to matter.

Big Brother star and social media influencer Skye Wheatley makes an appearance on the show.

Sandilands is calm yet funny with a few shits and bullshits thrown in for dramatic affect.

For anyone wondering if Australia has the right personalities for a Jerry Springer style show, Trial by Kyle is proof to the affirmative.

Producers present the perfect ingredients of dumb people, stupid cases and intriguing personalities.

Anna Heinrich, of Bachelor reality fame, is Sandilands’ legal professional sidekick.

Annoyingly, when she is a qualified lawyer in real life, the format leaves little room for Heinrich to shine with Sandilands taking centre stage with his witty one liners.

Again, annoyingly, she is portrayed as the token blonde that she isn’t in real life.

There’s also a security guard by Sandilands side, smiling but ready to use his muscle if things were to get out of hand.

As for the cases, there’s six in total over the one hour episode that will air on Thursday night as part of Channel 10s Pilot Week.

Whoever cast this show has done a stellar job, although I’d like to see less ‘influencers’ like fame seeking Skye Wheatley and more cases like Karena and Samantha, a mother and daughter fighting over custody of their dog, Storm.

Sandilands is at his best when two extras from TV soap Neighbours enter the court to dispute a disagreement from an incident on set.

“You’re horrible, I can’t even stand looking at ya,” he declared as the men walk out of the court. “You’re an extra (and you) don’t even know how to walk off set.”

Trial By Kyle’s one hour pilot will air on Thursday night.

Sandilands also deserves a thumbs up for his smackdown of Married At First Sight reality contestant Nasser Sultan, who appears in a case against a paparazzo he claims fabricated stories about him.

The voiceover guy introduces him.

“Nasser from Married At First Sight to extend his 15 minutes of fame in a case that has to be seen to be believed.”

Sultan claims he deserves $10,000 in damages.

“I don’t need to keep myself relevant, I am a star already,” he declares.

The show offers a warmer, caring side to Sandilands.

Text messages are used as evidence, to which Sandilands holds up Sultan’s phone.

“You know what you should be doing, you should be doing a deal with Nokia because you are the only one that has one of these.”

Celebrities pop up intermittently, and randomly, in the fast moving show.

Singer Shannon Noll appears as an “expert on mateship and etiquette” in a dispute between two best mates over cash.

“The bro code is an absolute religion to some people,” Noll said, playing the part in a way that is part serious and part comedic.

All in all, Trial by Kyle is a winner Channel 10 would be stupid not to commission for a full season.
