Police will charge Kyle Sandilands’ new girlfriend, Tegan Kynaston, with assaulting an officer after a bizarre roadside dispute involving the celebrity couple.
The Sunday Telegraph can reveal the radio star asked a bystander to call triple-0 after Ms Kynaston allegedly damaged his luxury Bentley while exiting the car.
Police arrived at Bondi’s Beach Rd just before 7am yesterday, when Ms Kynaston allegedly assaulted one of them.
Ms Kynaston, 33, who works as director of communications for Sandilands’ King Kyle company, was arrested and later taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
A police spokesman said she would be charged with assaulting police and issued with a future court attendance notice.
“While speaking with the woman, it will be alleged in court that she assaulted one of the officers before being taken to hospital for a mental health assessment,” NSW Police said in a statement. “The man was spoken to by police and left the area soon after.”
Ms Kynaston and Sandilands, 48, are believed to have been dating for several months after his split with long-time lover Imogen Anthony.
The pair were seen together at KIIS parent company ARN’s Christmas party at The Champagne Bar in Darling Harbour early on Friday night, but other partygoers said the shock jock had retreated to his upstairs hotel room before 8pm after delivering a speech and presenting a number of awards.
Co-host Jackie “O” Henderson and ARN stablemate Amanda Keller from WSFM were not at the party.
Employees were asked to delete all pictures from the Kyle And Jackie O show’s personal Instagram — KJteam — the following morning, especially any of Tegan and Kyle together, a source said.
Sandilands, who recently signed a record-breaking $50 million deal to stay at KIIS with Henderson, is believed to have been driving Ms Kynaston back to her Bondi home when the incident occurred.
After Ms Kynaston had been taken away, a witness said police helped Sandilands secure the damaged door of his black Bentley — valued at close to $350,000 — so that he could leave.
“There have been reports of an incident that occurred in Bondi this morning. As this is now a police matter and out of respect and concern for those affected, we’re unable to comment,” a spokesman for Sandilands said in a statement.
