Kyle and Jackie O to broadcast in Melbourne from Monday

Radio powerhouse Kyle Sandilands has declared the show will be no. 1 here by the end of the year but there are reports KIIS FM’s parent company has set up a dedicated complaints department.

Kyle and Jackie O delay Melbourne launch until after Easter

Powerhouse radio pair Kyle and Jackie O are set to send shockwaves through Melbourne audiences from Monday, with reports a pre-emptive complaints department has been set up by parent company ARN.

The KIIS FM duo will be broadcasting from 6am-10am with their top rating show that flirts with the line of conversation between shock and entertainment.

One of the show’s former producers, Craig Bruce, who now co-hosts a podcast called Game Changers Radio: Melbourne Radio Wars, claimed on Tuesday that a complaints department had been set up already.

ARN said that statement in an article on news.com.au was incorrect, but there’s no doubt the company is bracing for a mixed reaction.

Sandilands and Henderson are riding high after reclaiming top spot in Sydney in the latest radio ratings survey released last week.

Despite not broadcasting from Melbourne, Sandilands is confident they will be no. 1 here, a mantle which is currently held by 3AW’s Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft, followed by FOX FM’s Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody.

“I don’t think it’ll be straight away, it’ll take a few surveys to crack them realistically so I don’t think it’ll be immediate, but by the end of the year yes,’’ Sandilands told the Herald Sun last month.

“It’s a complete new show, the whole show in its entirety is different for Melbourne. When we had a national show we rated our arse off in Melbourne and we’ll have those listeners in there and a whole new group of listeners that will find their home with us.”

Henderson said they weren’t preoccupied with the opposition.

“Personally for me, I don’t want to think about that,’’ she said.

“We’ll just do our thing and whether that’s a slow burn or instant impact, I have faith it will be the no. 1 show eventually.”
