Jackie Gillies has revealed she is expecting twins with husband Ben Gillies

Real Housewives of Melbourne star Jackie Gillies has revealed her joy at expecting twins with her drummer husband Ben following a “rollercoaster” IVF journey.

Real Housewives of Melbourne star Jackie Gillies will realise her dream of becoming a mother after falling pregnant with twins.

Gillies and husband, former Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies, have revealed they will become parents in November following a rollercoaster IVF journey that started two years ago.

Gillies, 40, is almost four months pregnant, but the practising psychic admits that she was losing faith after seven rounds of trying.

“I actually dreamt my passed away grandmother came to me and said ‘you’re going to have twins’,’’ Gillies told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“And then look at us, here we are. It’s still a shock to be frank, we’ve been trying for so long, nearly two years. It’s been a long process.

“I’ve gone through over seven rounds of IVF, egg retrieval and transfers. A lot of ups and downs and it’s been emotionally challenging but to get to where we’ve got to has been so rewarding. You’ve got to keep pushing forward and having faith.

“There were times where my faith was completely and utterly tested, I won’t deny that. There were times I cried, saying ‘why is this happening’, ‘am I meant to be a mother’, ‘is this ever going to happen’.

“I knew something deep in my soul that it would happen.”

Gillies began the IVF process seven months after she emerged from the jungle on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!

She and Ben have shared parts of their experience, with Gillies in March posting a picture of her bloated stomach post egg-retrieval.

She received strong messages of support from the likes of Michelle Bridges, Jasmine Yarbrough, Chyka Keebaugh, Imogen Anthony and Simone Holtznagel.

After rejoining Foxtel’s RHOM series this year, the original cast member said she wanted to use her platform to help others.

“There’s not a lot of people that talk about IVF,’’ Gillies said.

“What I’ve found with doing my psychic readings is people are going through IVF and they feel ashamed or don’t want to tell anyone because they think there’s something wrong with them. I think we need to start the conversation and that’s why I want to share my story.

“I’m going to be completely and utterly honest and transparent about my experiences, the ups and downs and the hormones. Just what you go through, the injections, you’re basically putting pregnancy hormones in your body without being pregnant so you can understand the head f*** of that. Your body feels like it’s pregnant but it’s not.”

She added: “You’ve got to have love and support because if I didn’t have the support of Ben, my mother and father and siblings I don’t think I would have kept going. I would have given it one crack. You need that support because doing it alone is not easy.”

Gillies said musician Ben was excited for fatherhood.

“Ben is over the moon and he is going to make the most incredible dad,’’ she said.

“He is the biggest kid you’ll ever meet. He runs around with kids and he lets kids paint his nails and curl his hair with a wand.

“We do (know the gender) but we’re going to keep that for Ben and I. We deserve that after all this.

“A lot of women have said since I’ve opened up about it and I’ve met girls who have done five or six rounds and haven’t even told their parents.

“I feel like this had to happen. This is a place where women can open up and share their stories and yeah we have the drama (on the show), but at least I can share my story and hopefully I can inspire one person and if I do I am doing my job.”
