Retired three-time premiership star Jack Riewoldt is joining Fox Footy’s full-time roster of experts.
The forward dubbed a “rock star” will provide commentary during matches and will be part of AFL 360 on Wednesday nights.
“Jack’s a star, he’s the best name to come out of the game media wise for a long time,’’ said Fox Footy general manager Michael Neill.
“We’re so excited to develop him as a media performer and we think the sky’s the limit. This is a bit like movies, you can’t have everyone being friendly like Brad Johnson, or grumpy like Garry Lyon, you need variety. We needed a rock star and that’s what we’ve got with Jack.
“We’re excited to shake things up and move AFL 360 to a prime time news slot (6.30pm Monday to Wednesday) so fans can get their breaking news, analysis and opinion all in the
one place.”
Matt Hill, the voice of racing, will also be part of the footy commentary team.
Riewoldt noted he wasn’t “the only one to have sung at the MCG like Taylor Swift,’’ in reference to him singing with The Killers after winning the 2017 premiership.
He chatted to footy stars Isaac Quaynor, Tom Stewart and Chloe Molloy who are ready to make a splash in season 2024.
The trio of Fox Footy ambassadors feature in a new Kayo Sports ‘Get on Board’ campaign with other sporting legends.
“I can’t wait for the season and I’m pumped to be involved,’’ said Collingwood premiership defender Quaynor.
“The last few months have been an absolute whirlwind, we’re back training and a new season comes around quick, we’re really excited to get back into it. Expectation is a privilege and our mantra has been getting back to work.”
On the back of a record-breaking year which saw streaming numbers increase by 11 per cent, Fox Footy returns with new talent, programming changes and exclusive matches.
On the Couch with Nathan Buckley, Lyon and Jonathan Brown will shift to 7.30pm on Monday nights, while a new panel show with a rotating suite of footy journalists, Midweek Tackle, will air at 7.30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Geelong marquee defender Stewart and Sydney AFLW co-captain Molloy are excited for their seasons to begin.
