Social media star Sam Guggenheimer has confirmed she’s split from Western Bulldogs midfielder Caleb Poulter.
After weeks of speculation over their relationship, Guggenheimer confirmed on her podcast, Just for Girls, that the couple had gone their separate ways.
She said nothing sinister happened and they still had a lot of love and respect for each other.
“I wanted to say it on the podcast where people can hear my voice and people don’t take things out of context and run with a different story,’’ Guggenheimer said.
“You’re hearing it from the horse’s mouth directly, I am taking control of my narrative and I wanted to say it on a platform that I feel comfortable with that Caleb and I are no longer together.
“I want to say I am in a very, very good place. I’ve probably never been happier in my adult life and Caleb and I had a beautiful relationship. If I pray on any girl to experience the love that I experienced with a male it would be Caleb and I’s relationship. And I will cherish that relationship for the rest of my life. But things happen, courses happen, nothing ever bad happened in our relationship.
“No one cheated, no one did anything wrong, people separate and people grow apart. And Caleb and I started dating when we were 18, we’re now 21 and we just decided that maybe it’s ok for us to go off on our own journeys.”
Guggenheimer said the pair may get back together in future but for now were living apart.
In her chat with co-host Izzy Armitage, she pleaded for people to respect the situation.
“Who knows what’s going on but I have nothing but love and respect for this guy,’’ she said.
“And I don’t like people painting out a bad narrative of him, a bad narrative of me, nothing happened, I just want to set that straight.
“Yes I know I chose to share my relationship online but it’s really rude and really invasive to go ‘did you guys break up?’ (and) ‘why isn’t Caleb in these videos?’
“You’re baiting it and you’re never going to get a reaction from me. We’re just off on our own paths and it is a senstiive time, we had to move out, we had to settle things. You have to figure that out personally and privately before you take it to the public.
“Caleb and I have a lot of love and respect for each other and I will not speak again about our relaitonship besides anything good. I love him and will always love him and that’s literally the end of it. He can go off and do whatever he wants and I just don’t need to know about it. He doesn’t need to see and hear that about me.”
Guggenhimer said “2024 is for the girls”, adding she’s in a positive and happy place.
“There’s going to be hard times about a break up and weird situations you’re put in but I’m twenty f...ing one and I’m just doing what I want, I have an amazing housemate now and I see some positives about it,’’ she said.
“This is the first time I’ve really been able to do whatever I want, I’m an incredibly independent person and loving doing whatever the f... I want. I’m having a great time.”
