From SEN to 7? Rumours swirl that Channel 9’s chief footy reporter Tom Morris may jump ship
Footy players may not be the only ones trading places as media circles buzz with talk that Channel 7 may be keen on poaching Nine’s chief footy reporter, Tom Morris.
Footy players trading places and seeking new homes is all the rage this week but there’s plenty of chatter going on in media circles too.
The talk surrounds Channel 9’s chief footy reporter Tom Morris who is out of contract at the end of this year.
Word doing the rounds is that Channel 7 may be keen to sound out his interest in jumping ship.
Morris has grown his profile as a news gatherer who also appears regularly on SEN. And coincidentally he’s also out of contract with Craig Hutchison’s radio station.
Some say there’s been informal discussions held with Seven, and some say there haven’t been — where there’s smoke there may be fire, much like the many rumoured happenings this week.
Tom Morris alongside Seven’s current gun chief footy reporter Mitch Cleary, would be a formidable combination.
Whether it’s a case of attempting to secure a greater deal, or genuine interest, it remains to be seen.
Kane Cornes’ defection from Nine to Seven for this season was one of the biggest media stories in years.
The shenanigans of trade week and beyond, continue.
