The talented daughter of actor Eric Bana is embarking on a career in modelling after signing to a Melbourne agency.
Sophia Banadinovich, 20, is an accomplished dancer broadening her interests with the support of family and friends.
Her photographer mum Rebecca has taken first images of her as she sets about making her mark as Sophia Bana with leading modelling agency The Talent Büro.
“I think that in a lot of ways dancing and modelling compliment each other,’’ Sophia told the Herald Sun.
“As dancers we are taught from a young age to have strong awareness of our bodies, our physicality and the way we hold ourselves. Modelling was something I had never personally considered, but with the mentoring and support of my friends and family I decided why not give it a go? I am definitely a beginner but I am excited to see where it can go!”
Sophia is committed to studying dance but hasn’t ruled out pursuing acting and following in her famous father’s footsteps.
“Acting has always been something I have dreamt of trying,’’ she said.
“At the moment, in my second year of full time dance while also completing part time uni (doing arts), I want to ensure I am remaining focused. However, acting is something that I would love to try when I am able to devote more focus, time and energy.
“I am absolutely infatuated with dancing and always have been. It has played such a big role in my life so far, so being able to train full time and dance everyday feels somewhat self indulgent but it’s definitely hard work.
“I weirdly like the rigorous and sometimes draining parts of it because I always feel that the harder I push myself, the more rewarding the end result or performance feels.”
Sophia said her dad, star of hit movies including The Dry, has given her some wise words of advice.
“I am a bit of a stubborn daughter so it is rare that I ask for advice or let my parents help,’’ said Sophia who has an older brother, Klaus.
“However, one big piece of wisdom that my Dad has passed down is to take my time making difficult decisions. I think this advice came at a great time going into my 20s as I will begin to make a lot more choices for myself that will help me create my own path.”
The Talent Buro’s founder and director Felicity Milford said Sophia could have a big future.
“She’s exciting talent with a lot of potential,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to have her join our stable.”
