Daughter of Ramsay Street royalty Jason Donovan joins Neighbours cast

The Donovan legacy will continue on Ramsay Street with a third generation joining the cast of Neighbours, after Jason Donovan cemented himself as one of the show’s ’80s icons alongside Aussie darling Kylie Minogue.

The Donovan legacy will continue at Ramsay Street with a third generation joining the cast of Neighbours.

Jemma Donovan, the 18 year-old daughter of 80s favourite Jason Donovan and granddaughter of patriarch Terence Donovan, is already on the set of Neighbours in her role as Harlow Robinson.

“I am so happy and very honoured to be a part of a series which has been enjoyed by generations,’’ Jemma said.

“I really like my character Harlow. She is very head strong, and I enjoy playing that type of character who’s not so intense, knows what she is doing and likes to get involved and Harlow seems to have those qualities.”

Jason Donovan was a Neighbours icon alongside Kylie Minogue, as they played couple Scott and Charlene.

He said he was proud of Jemma, his eldest of three children, who starred alongside Hugh Bonneville in the BBC One film Mr. Stink at the age of 11, and also appeared in the 10-part Netflix series Spotless in 2015.

“Neighbours is an incredible learning curve for any young actor,’’ he said.

“It’s become an institution and I’m so grateful for my time on Ramsay Street.

“There are so many great memories for me looking back, and to be honest this is Jemma’s moment. My Dad had a wonderful few years and I’m sure Jemma will also embrace the experience and honour the past.

“She needs to look forward, be an open book, learn from her experiences and have some fun. What an opportunity.”

Jemma Donovan will be seen on screens from July.
