Shane Crawford has urged viewers to be patient with the new look The Footy Show after its debut to mixed reactions.
Crawford joined the new team of host Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann plus Neroli Meadows, Dylan Alcott and Brendan Fevola on Wednesday night.
It was beaten by Seven’s The Front Bar.
“It’s a new show so you’ve got to let them do their thing,’’ Crawford said.

CRAWFORD REVEALS OFFERS FROM PORT, SYDNEY
“Everyone's got strong opinions but it’s all about building chemistry. Overall the crowd was into it and we’ll keep going and hopefully get it back to the top again. Everyone wants a footy show and there’s some challenges there which make you feel alive. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to go for it.”
Crawford left Channel 9 to appear on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! but has returned for the show.
“I’ve been part of the fabric there for a long time,’’ he said.
“For me it was about finding a bit of time because I needed more balance in my life. It’s hard to let everything go when you’ve been part of something for a long time. I don’t see this as daunting or scary, I see it as an exciting time.”
Crawford yesterday made his debut on GOLD FM’s breakfast show with host Christian O’Connell.
He is also part of TAB’s new weekly digital content show called Inside 50, along with Nick Quinn with guest appearances from Brent Harvey.
Drawing inspiration from popular ESPN programs like Pardon the Interruption, the show will whip through the hot topics in AFL ‘on the clock’.
“I love my horses and footy,’’ Crawford said.
“It’s mainly about footy but I love tipping a roughie or an upset. It ticks all the boxes.”
