Dane Swan drops hint about Dusty’s future

Dane Swan’s 40th birthday celebrations will include a boys’ trip to Las Vegas, but whether Dustin Martin can get time off to attend will depend on where he’s playing next year.

Time On is your Monday wrap-up of all the footy gossip and banter from the weekend.

Look out Vegas, Dane Swan is coming.

The Collingwood legend has sent out invites for his 40th birthday celebration in February.

“I’m with family and friends in Mexico and then the male friends are going to Vegas the week after,’’ Swan said.

“I couldn’t have asked everyone to pay to go to Super Bowl so it’s the week after. I’ve said to all my Premiership teammates to come over if they want.”

Swan has invited his great mate, Richmond star Dustin Martin. The pair has previously visited Las Vegas together.

“He’s invited, depends if the new coach will give him two weeks off,’’ Swan said.

“He’s more of a chance if he’s coached by Dimma (Damien Hardwick) and he may well be.”

BT calls out Europeans’ ‘fake life’

Brian Taylor is clearly not a fan of Europe after opening up on why he hasn’t taken his wife Tania there for a holiday.

Speaking on his Life of Brian podcast the Channel 7 commentator was questioned about it by son Harrison following Tania’s birthday last week.

“She has been begging you every birthday to take her to Europe,’’ Harrison said.

“Why will you not take her to Europe?”

Taylor said: “Because I’ve taken her everywhere else. She’s got this fantasy of Paris, Florence, she’s got all of these things in her mind about that being romantic. I have taken her to South America, in the Amazon jungle, which was great. I took her to Peru and all of South America and the States, she’s done all that.

“I love old buildings but I’m not into old buildings if you know what I mean. You’ve seen one old stone building, I reckon you’ve seen them all. I can’t see myself lining up at churches and old buildings all day and every day in Europe which is what it is.”

Harrison wondered whether BT was scared because Tania’s first love was an Italian man – he said that was nonsense.

“I think the Europeans live a bit of a fake life, it’s a bit of a bullshit life, and they go over there and pretend they’re all romantic and all that sort of stuff and that’s not who they are really,’’ Taylor said.

It’s not just the players who go on bonding trips – the wives and partners at Collingwood got together for a weekend of celebrations.

On Saturday a big group of ladies caught up for a winery day, while on Sunday a heavily pregnant Mikayla Crisp hosted her baby shower.

Crisp and husband Jack are expecting their third child early in October.

Alex Pendlebury, wife of former captain Scott, thanked the wives of coach Craig McRae and footy boss Graham Wright, Gabrielle and Tracey, for organising the visit to Hubert Estate in the Yarra Valley.

“Yeah the girls!’’ Pendlebury wrote on social media.

“Top day with the best crew, thanks ladies!”

Meanwhile some of Collingwood’s stars were VIP guests at the World Cup final on Sunday night.

Injured captain Darcy Moore and forward Jamie Elliott were living it up on the harbour prior to the game, pictured on a boat alongside swimming legend Ian Thorpe and cricket great Ellyse Perry.

And during the game they were spied in the background of Elsa Pataky’s picture with husband Chris Hemsworth.

Not far from them was tennis legend Billie Jean King. Pataky was thrilled the team from her homeland Spain won the match over England.

The 22 year-old went viral on TikTok and received a huge boost in followers.

His teammates were ribbing him after the game, saying he’s been working hard on his rig and would have enjoyed the spotlight.

He started Friday night with 11,000 followers on Instagram and by Monday morning he had more than 40,000.

That is a mighty impressive stat.

Meadows’ star turn in Bollywood

Sports broadcaster Neroli Meadows has made her big screen debut in a Bollywood film.

Meadows was flown to Mumbai for the day for the part in Ghoomer, alongside industry legend Amitabh Bachchan.

“That was pretty intimidating but he was really lovely,’’ Meadows said.

“Everyone was so kind and welcoming.”

Meadows didn’t need to look far for tips given her brother, Ian Meadows, is a star of the Australian small screen.

“I was messaging my bro the entire shoot asking for advice and telling him how much appreciation I had for him,’’ she said.

“It’s pretty awesome that his show RFDS has come out at the same time too.”

The world premiere of Ghoomer took place in Melbourne last weekend.
