Ex-Collingwood champ Dane Swan says the birth of his twin girls has left him feeling like he’s “been on a three-day bender”.

Swan says he nearly fell off his seat in shock when he was told Wilson was pregnant with twins.

The Collingwood champion says he is still in disbelief that he’s a father of three following the birth of his daughters late last year.

The twin girls, Sage and Scout, came home from hospital on Sunday after being born at 34 weeks.

“I nearly feel off my seat when we found out, the lady was so matter of fact,” Swan said on his Hump Day with Swanny and Friends podcast.

“(Taylor) got an eight-week scan and I was actually watching a game of basketball, I had a multi going … the lady was like ‘you know you’re having twins’. I dropped the phone.

“We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, I wanted a second opinion. We sat in silence the whole way home, it was like WTF.”

Swan and Wilson have a son, Tate, who turns two next month.

Wilson’s mum is here from the US helping out but Swan said in the three days the twins have been home he feels like he’s been on a “three-day bender” due to the lack of sleep.

“They were in special care for three weeks so couldn’t eat on their own,” he said.

“Born 34 weeks premature so it wasn’t a bad time to have a kid (at the end of the year) because they were born at Epworth Freemasons … it didn’t take long to drive. They were phenomenal there.

“With two I have to get up and help. They’ve been the three quickest nights of my life, don’t know if I’m coming or going.

“All happy and healthy, they’re growing. It’s been a long three days but they’re going alright.”

Swan is due to start a day job with his cousin in business development and said his days of watching five hours of TV a day were gone.

“Life is going to be busy, especially when Taylor’s mum goes home,” he said.

“That’s life, my life’s over. The Dane Swan we formerly knew is gone.”

In September Swan was recovering after being hospitalised with a foot injury sustained while playing local footy with St Kilda City.

He turned up at the Brownlow red carpet on a knee scooter to chat with players for Sportsbet.

The Brownlow medallist and premiership star is due to play footy in South Australia with the Nangwarry Saints from April.
