Collingwood champion Dane Swan has spoken more about the surreal experience of welcoming his son to the world, and revealed his name.
On his podcast, Hump Day with Swanny and Friends, Swan said he and partner Taylor Wilson had adjusted well to life at home with their first baby, born last Saturday afternoon.
“He’s a little champ, he’s going well,’’ Swan said.
“So Taylor won. His name is Tait Hale, which is my mum’s maiden name, Wilson Swan. So Tait Hale Wilson Swan.
“I had another (name) I liked. (I said) righto you can have this one, the next one I get final decision.
“I like Tait but it wasn’t my numero uno.”
Swan said their birth plan had gone out the window after a quick 90-minute labour.
Taylor had wanted to have a natural birth but soon changed her mind.
“It came really quicky obviously and she killed it,’’ Swan said.
“I was walking around with a cup of water and a straw.
“I would come over and give her a pressure point, not like Chris Judd or Brendan Fevola, and she’d say p--- off I don’t want to be touched now.
He added: “She was amazing. It was weird I didn’t cry, I thought I’d start bawling but maybe I was in shock. The pain went from zero to 100 for Taylor so before I knew it I was cutting the cord.”
Swan said the baby was crying non stop for four days which he found difficult because he’s only ever had a dog.
The Magpies premiership star and Brownlow medallist said it was a special time for the family after his sister gave birth last Friday night.
He also admitted he had one eye on his multi bets and the Lakers during the afternoon.
“It’s a bit weird now I’m not the most important person in my life,’’ he said.
“We both did it naturally. We got it done, it was a tough 90 minutes, but we got it done and we’re happy and healthy.”
